Microsoft recently lost the court battle with Eolas Technologies over how to execute an embedded program object in a web browser. This has forced Microsoft to change the way interactive content are embedded in Internet Explorer, including ActiveX controls, Adobe Reader, Firefox plug-ins, Java applets, Flash, QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player, etc. The latest WireFusion 4.1.14 update, officially released today, contains a work-around for the Eolas Technology patent.

Demicron today announced the released of the WireFusion 4.0.3 update, which contains several new features. A new GIF Animation object allows for GIF animation playback within presentations and it's now also possible to publish presentations as GIF animations. Another great feature is the Image Generator Servlet, found in the Enterprise edition, which now can generate GIF animations on the web server.

Demicron releases a solution to the Windows XP and missing Java problem. A new script detects if both the Microsoft Java VM and the Sun Java Plug-in are missing on the client system when viewing a web page containing a Java applet. If Java is not available on the client system, the user will automatically be asked to download, install and run the latest Sun Java Plug-in.

Sun Microsystems signs agreements with five more major PC hardware makers to ship the latest Java technology on all their sold PCs. The new distributors are Acer, Gateway, Toshiba, Samsung and Tsinghua Tongfang. Earlier this year Sun signed similar agreements with Dell, HP, Apple, Lindows and Red Hat.
